Now, I know there are a number of bread options at Subway, “technically”. But if there’s a bread with cheese baked into it, then as far as I’m concerned, it’s the only bread in the room. It’s the only bread in any room.
I discovered Subway on my 18th birthday, and on that day I became a woman. Not just because I was officially an adult, but because I’d found my sandwich for life. I’d been messing about with tuna on brown bread as a kid, thinking I’d peaked. Then on my 18th birthday I walked into Subway, felt overwhelmed by the options but ultimately made the most important decision o my life.
I choose a Spicy Italian (It was then called an Italian BMT – similar to the Spicy but with ham, I would take the ham off, so in many ways I invented the Spicy Italian). The Spicy is the greatest sandwich at Subway, it’s fantastic, with the Southwest Sauce it’s offensively good.
Now when it came to the bread choice, I knew as soon as I saw it that “Italian Herbs and Cheese” was for me…why? Frankly, you shouldn’t have to ask, but as you have, here are 5 undeniable reasons.
1. It’s obvious…it has cheese baked into it. The number one rule of carbs is get yo’ additions right. What I mean is, despite carbs being the source of all that is good and great in the world, like no man, it is not an island. Or maybe it is an island, but it needs the sea (I’m talking condiments here) and the sand (cheese, always cheese).
2. There are herbs on it, which means it’s got a certain touch of class, not found in lesser breads.
3. Hearty Italian is just a beggar of a relative that’s trying to move in on Italian Herbs and Cheese’s glory with the use of a meaningless adjective. “Hearty”, what does that even mean. Does it have cheese on it? No? Move on.
4. When it comes to the Italian bread, I feel embarrassed for it’s existence. What are you bringing Italian? You’ve not even bothered with a marketing facade of being “hearty” like your pal. Ultimately, what I’m saying here is there is no cheese on this bread.
5. 9 Grain Honey Oat…you what? I’m at Subway, hoping to taking 2lbs of processed meats to the face. I am in no way interested in grains.
